Within the limestone and brick facade of the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building, once a men's retail store, acclaimed designer Tony Chi has created spaces inside our Midtown hotel that are inspired by the high-ceilings and solidity of the city's pre-war apartments and the moments that characterize the city in the minds of New Yorkers.

The ground and second floors are open spaces; a facade of floor-to-ceiling glass framed in limestone echoes the library across the street. The spaces might remind you of the city on a rainy day or the moment right before dawn breaks when the streets are silent, and New York is all yours.

True to the Andaz brand, Andaz 5th Avenue offers uncomplicated and attentive service by real people who are passionate about New York City. We're as fervent about New York's farms as we are our tiny island city-kingdom: Menus in the shop, the bar downstairs and room service are based on our relationships with local farmers and our search for what's fresh and in-season around the state of New York, particularly in the Hudson Valley.

Greet the day with dishes like Feather Ridge Farm eggs served in the cast iron pans they were cooked in, or a bagel with lox from Russ & Daughters, a Lower East Side institution. Our Midtown Manhattan restaurant's lunch menu also features items from some of New York's most emblematic places: hand cut pastrami and corned beef from Katz's and pickles from Guy's. For dinner, we coax the best flavors from farm fresh ingredients: you might find roasted Berkshire pork chop with celeriac mashed potatoes, a salad made from the wild arugula and roasted stone fruits we source from the Hudson Valley, a simple poached fish dressed with just-picked heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and mint.
The Bar Downstairs
How would your best-traveled, most urbane friend entertain at home? Our Midtown Manhattan bar channels that friend, serving seasonal cocktails evoking a bygone era made from a highly-curated group of bespoke spirits, and local and international wines from small producers. Sit in front of the fireplace, at one of the communal bar tables or a cozy banquette, and share small or large plates that come from the open kitchen. Farm fresh ingredients from our favorite purveyors and farmers are central to the menu; so central that we build our dishes around them.
